Giving Tuesday Wrap-Up
Congrats to the many organizations that reached, or exceeded, their fundraising goal this past Giving Tuesday! After each campaign, it’s important to take a moment and ask:
What worked?
What didn't?
What would I do differently next time?
Asking these 3 key questions will save you time and money next Giving Tuesday. Seriously, this is a game-changer for every organization.
Here are some major takeaways from this year:
Have a match! The organizations that had a dollar-for-dollar donor match were much more likely to reach (or exceed!) their goal. There's more momentum on the nonprofit side AND the community side to band together to reach a goal.
Plan your strategy and content 4-6 weeks in advance. Let your community know about the campaign, dollar goal, and create visual content that complements the campaign.
Be clear on the IMPACT each dollar will make. It's much more compelling to tell your followers what $1000 will do (fund a new project, purchase new equipment, etc.) versus just asking to reach a random numerical goal.
Consistency! Yes, you're going to post more, send more emails, call more donors than you normal do -- and that's okay. It's important to ramp up frequency to achieve a goal!
And a special reminder - I've noticed a few organizations have not changed out their Instagram profile URL from the Giving Tuesday link! Make sure you update it today. 😉
